Russian Soul

The photographic essay, Russian Soul, was born as a result of several trips to the medieval centres of Russia over a two-year period. With the tragic current events occurring in Ukraine that are dominating the news, perhaps there is no better time to remind the reader that there is a deep, spiritual side to the Russian people that is reflected in its literature, it’s poetry, it’s painting, it’s music, and not least in the thousand-year history of Orthodox Christianity inherited from the civilization of Byzantium. The focus of this book is centered on the expression of Russian Orthodox Christianity as reflected in its exquisite churches and monasteries as well as on the people who are practitioners of its traditions. A preface by Sir Richard Temple, owner of Temple Gallery, as well as an introduction by the author accompany the black and white photographs of this fine art coffee-table-sized volume, printed by Meridian Printing. A limited edition clamshell version of fifty copies with three Piezography prints housed in a triptych folio case is also available for purchase below.

For those in Europe and the United Kingdom copies are available through Temple Gallery by contacting Benjamin Shearar at ben@templegallery.com
